Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register to join the parish?
Contact the Parish Office 362-7181 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or stop in the Sacristy after any week end Mass.

Who should be registered in a parish?
All persons who are out of school and/or are independent should make a specific parish their “home religious base” (even if they live with their parents) 
and should be registered individually. 

What do I need to do if I would like to hold my wedding ceremony at 
Immaculate Conception?
One of the party must be a registered member of the parish and must have been for at least six months. Couples seeking to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony should call the parish office at least six months before the celebration. A marriage preparation booklet will be given to them containing the guidelines and steps necessary in planning for their wedding.

How do I arrange to have my baby baptized?
Schedule with the Parish Office for a date. Participation in Baptism program offered on the 4th Monday of each month is required. 
Parents must be registered parishioners and practicing Catholics.

When does First Eucharist take place?
First Confession/First Eucharist are generally celebrated in second grade. 
These are family-centered programs.

What about Confirmation?
Students who will be 15 years old by the date of Confirmation are encouraged to begin the preparation. The preparation time is usually ten months to a year. It includes a retreat, letters to the pastor, service,study,and monthly conversations and/or activities with sponsors.

How do I arrange for the Anointing of the Sick?
A general Anointing of the Sick is held during mass several times a year, the times and dates will be announced.  If someone is seriously ill or is about to have surgery, please contact the parish office and we will see that they get the sacrament.  If they are in Mercy Hospital there is a chaplain there who will give it to them--just let the nurses know to contact the chaplain. There is also a priest that covers St. Luke's Hospital--
just let the Parish Office know.

When is the 2nd collection for area needs?
That is held the third Sunday of the month.

What do I need to do to become a Catholic?
The RCIA program is designed for people interested in becoming Catholic or who have been baptized but have not been catechized in the faith. Classes begin in the fall. To be part of the program call the parish office.

What opportunities are available for me to be actively involved?

Ministers that serve our Parish
Greeters, Mass servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Commentators, Ushers

Music Program
We are fortunate to have many people involved in our music program and an invitation is open to those who have musical talent that an be shared with the parish family. We currently have organists, adult cantors, a children's choir and an adult funeral choir. We welcome new participants. Contact the Parish Office 362-7181.

Senior Dinners
Senior dinners are held on the second Monday, from September through May. We welcome all seniors to join us. Volunteers are always welcome to help with cooking meals, serving and cleaning up.

St. Margaret's Circle
Meets the first and third Wednesday of each month after the 12:05 p.m. Mass. They enjoy conversation, lunch and cards. They also staff the Religious Store which is open before and after week end Masses, with all proceeds going to the Parish. They welcome new members. 

Befrienders
Befrienders are members of the parish who will visit and welcome new parishioners, and visit the homebound and bring Communion. They also visit the hospitals and families of the ill. They respond to the needs of the lonely, the alienated and the grieving.

Ministry of Praise
This is a spiritual ministry in which the handicapped, the homebound and all senior citizens offer prayer, joys, and suffering for the Immaculate Conception parish family.

Ice Cream Social
This event takes place the second Sunday in August.
